About the band

The Trio is Darren Lince, lead guitar, steel and vocals, Martin Smith, drums and vocals, and Kev Massey, double bass. This mix lends itself to an 'awesome' and diverse sound, and many great, and sometimes obscure, rocking tracks.

The band successfully toured the UK supporting Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. They play around the UK and Europe on the rockabilly scene and at weekenders, where they have been on the same bill as countless original artists from the 50s. They are also popular to a broader audience, having a local fan base in Oxford, where they regularly busk to large audiences.

Darren has been playing guitar for 26 years. His main influences are Cliff Gallup, Jimmy Bryant, Junior Barnard and Merle Travis. He also collects vintage guitars, amplifiers and effects, and occasionally sports a beard! He also plays banjo. He has been playing in rockabilly bands for the last 20 years, including, amongst others, The Sinners and The Preachers.

Martin has been beating the skins for many years. Like Darren, he collects vintage instruments and recording equipment, mics, etc, and is completing a valve recording studio on which many of the band's tracks have been recorded. His influences include Jimmy van Eaton, WS Holland, and Clayton Glover - a must for drumming aficionados.
